The objective of the project is to achieve an updated checklist and revision of Prioninae (Cerambycidae) from Vietnam with additions of taxonomy and distribution. Materials of Prioninae, collected from 2010 to 2015 in Vietnam, will be scanned and reviewed then compared with type specimens deposited at the collections of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS). The work will include describing new species and revising taxa of the subfamily. The cooperation between Mr. Do Manh and a specialist from RBINS has already been initiated in the past, with some work and publications on Aegosomatini.
The fauna of Prioninae of Vietnam is extremely diverse but its taxonomy is very complicated; the project will enable the upgrading of information on both taxonomy and distribution of these species in Vietnam. The information will not only be used for science but will also be valuable for conservation in estimating threatened species with narrow distribution. This project is part of the Ph. D. of Mr. Do Manh.
